Glasgow is better known as an industrial hub, than a tourist destination. But since it is an ancient Scottish city, it still attracts the attention of many travelers.
Besides that, it is a very green territory immersed in the plentitude of various plants.

What to see in Glasgow in one day
Since I'm studying English at CES language school in Edinburgh, I decided to have a weekend drive around the cities of Scotland and stop for a day in Glasgow.
If you are traveling around UK cities, it is easier and cheaper to get to Glasgow by bus or train. And if Glasgow is an intermediate point on your route, you can leave your belongings and suitcases in the luggage room at the bus station (£ 5) to walk around the city.
I usually buy tickets on this site — www.GoEuro.com
But it is also a good option to get to Glasgow Prestwick airport from Europe with low-cost airline for only £20.
The first thing, that caught my eye in Glasgow, was its unusual modern architecture. An hour's drive from Edinburgh and there is a city of totally different style.
Right at the bus station, I was met by this monument at the Royal Concert Hall. Behind it, there is a huge shopping center, lots of pedestrian streets full of shops and the variety of cafes and pubs.
My favorite among the places, where you can have a quick meal and coffee, is the British chain "Pret a Manger", they are all around the city. The morning in UK, of course, should start with porridge (in my case, with coconut)
Among the most famous attractions of the city, I should mention the districtcalled Merchant City. It intensively developed during the XVIII century, when the city was actively rising. Now the historic buildings are mixed with trendy boutiques and the best restaurants in Glasgow. It is not a surprise, why it is the first location for tourists.
You should also look inside Kelvingrove (Art Museum and gallery), one of the most visited in Scotland. Open from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. It is located in a very interesting house, built more than 100 years ago in Spanish Baroque style. The museum displays the works of Picasso, Dali, Rubens, Titian, Rembrandt, Botticelli and Scottish masters.
If you happen to be on one of the main streets of the city, Buchanan Street, you should turn towards the church of St. George's Tron Church, opened in 1808.
It is also worth seeing the Provand's Lordship built in XV century. In fact, it is one of the oldest civil constructions in Scotland. It houses the museum that will give you an overview of the medieval life of Glasgow.
And of course, you have to have walk to the Cathedral of Glasgow.
Unusual sights of Glasgow
In fact, the city features plenty of interesting churches and museums that are really worth seeing. But there are also few unusual landmarks. Among them is the one that appeared in 2006. This is the Clyde Arch Bridge, decorated with an arch that resembles a rainbow.
And being on the waterfront, you can look at the Titan Clydebank, an enormously large crane that was used to build ships. Now it has become just a monument.
And, finally, there is the Necropolis of Glasgow where many of the tombstones, actually, are works of art. It is located next to the Cathedral, so it will be easy to find.
